Fun in the City
I got an email this morning from a friend who is heading into New York to celebrate her anniversary. As a wedding gift, a few friends and I got them a gift certificate to choose a broadway play to see. They’ve chosen an epic love story to celebrate their first year married. Living in central New Jersey, it takes us just about an hour to get into New York City.
Last time we went into New York we saw 3 shows over the weekend, and went to a spa. We saw Mama Mia! which was a lot of fun, and has the music of ABBA. The performance was fabulous! The other play we saw that weekend was Avenue Q. If you’ve never seen that show, it is a riot! We laughed so much, our sides were aching. You can check out the top 10 attractions of NYC if you’ve never been there.
The last show we saw was Elton John at Madison Square Garden. If you’ve never seen him in concert, he’s my favorite! He puts on such a great show, and never ceases to blow us away. It was such a fun experience. We shared the experience with my mom and my aunt. My husband surprised me by getting tickets for 4 to each of the events. We had such an incredible weekend. As a thank you to him, I called ahead and arranged for the hotel restaurant to bring out a dessert with the words thank you written across the plate!
Driving in NYC is an experience in itself! We prefer to have a car bring us into the city, or park over in Hoboken and take the path train over. Driving in New York City is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced! I’ve done it once, and it was the one and only time I’ll ever do that- from now on, I’ll hire a driver!
If you’re looking for hotels in NYC, look around and compare. Prices are steep, but if you look around, you can usually find something that will work for you. I’m not sure what the hotel we stayed at is called now, as I think it just switched hands after we went. We were really close to Madison Square Garden, so we could just about walk across the street after the concert! It worked out really well for us. If you’re willing to drive in New York, you may want to look into Car Loans to get a car that will work for you. Remember parking is at a bare minimum, so you may want a smaller car! No matter how you get there, or what you do when you arrive, New York is a lively place! There is so much to see and do there, you should have a blast! This post was brought to you by NYU.edu
